International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
Some Basic Points to understand the IELST
1. It
is the test of English Language based on the four skills of language:
Listening, Reading, Writing & Speaking.
2. The
most popular test of English i.e. globally accepted is IELTS. The alternative
types of English Professional tests are TOEFL (Test of English as a
Foreign Language), PTE (Pearson Test of English), CAE (Cambridge
Advance English), CAEL (Canadian Advance English Language) and so
on.
3. IELTS
assesses your abilities and skills to understand and use of English Language in
terms of Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking.
4. The test format can be illustrated as follows:

Overall=1-9 Note: Listening, Reading, Writing is conducted on the
same day at same venue but speaking is at British Council 2/3 days

There
is no pass/fail mark in IELTS. The Country/University/Subject/Level determines
what you need to get admission. However, you should have at least 6.0 for
Bachelor and 6.5 for Master.
It
is a proficiency based test. Candidates can practice test format based on the
Cambridge ESOL Examination Practice book. It's like skill development type of
practice i.e. swimming, driving, typing etc.
