Nepal's Prosperity: China or India?
Background
The communist led government is formulating polices and the
beginning of power exercise based on its interest has been developing a
unique scenario in the Nepalese Politics in these days. The Indian psychology
and treatment to Nepal was feudalistic in the past from more than hundreds of
years. Once, I was in Delhi and got chance to introduce with an Indian, the resident of Delhi. He was well educated. We introduced each other. He asked me
where are you from? I said Nepal (usne puchha aap kanhaka rahewale ho? Mene
jabaf diya Nepal ka), then he said well Ok Ok, it lies in UP (Uttar Pradesh)
Yes? He made me mad. I could not imagine that an educated resident of the
capital of India did not know that Nepal is a Sovereign Independent Nation, It
lies in between of India and China.
Discussion
Dear readers (Nepalese Brother
& Sister!) you might have a panic feeling after reading the above lines.
Obviously, it happens when the neighboring countries' citizens pretend as
ignorant and indirectly project their colonial mentality. There are many people
who believe that such sort of things neither have any value nor impact in
reality. But these things certainly play the role of disastrous catalyst in the
historical and beautiful relation of Roti Beti (Marital & Job) as many
Indians pronounce as a ritual.
It is popularly said that the
typical Newar of Kathmandu even today forcefully highlights that the entire
Nepal is Kathmandu but this argument seems as naturally raised. Whatever the
case of the Newar of Kathmandu seems as ignorant whereas the person of Delhi
automatically is figured as villain of the movie.
From the two third mandate of the
election 2 and half years ago, the communist led government of Nepal has taken
initiation as it is a sovereign and independent Nation. The dispute went to the
climax when Nepal claimed its land of Kalapani, Lipulekh and Limpiadhura. It
should not be the hot debate even though in that area Indians are settled. The
government along with the opposition political parties came into one place and
pass the bill of map replacement.
This incident have become the hot
masala in India and Nepal. Nepalese people wanted their land back in to their map
and in reality also. But the Indian tendency is once it seizes other's land. He would not like to return back. In addition to this, Indian Big Media started propaganda on Border Issue. Beside the Indian Media, Western Big Media
also indirectly criticized Nepal-China intimacy. They projected the visit of
Chinese President Xi Jinping and the mutual understanding in between Nepal and
China rather negative point of view. The
New York Times on 12th October 2019 highlighted the news at the arrival of the
President. Nepal has traditionally been close to
India, however, in recent years, Chinese investors have pumped millions of
dollars into the country, one of Asia’s poorest and least-developed
democracies. It has become easier under Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli, leader
of the Nepal Communist Party, Nepal has tried to diversify its trade agreements
and move away from dependence on India.
Here it is not difficult to
predict for every Nepali Citizens that the so called developed countries and their
governments who entertain the Foreign Indian Policy toward the so called
developing, small and poor countries is not good for Nepal and Nepalese.
The visit of the heads of two
nations and their discussion for mutual benefits was presented by Voice of
America. It has made viral in Western Media hat China has been pressing Nepal
to sign the treaty for some years to improve administration of border areas and
fight against illegal border crossing and transnational crimes like banking
fraud, trafficking and the smuggling of gold and wildlife parts.
These all presentations are
sufficient to understand how the western powers take Nepal and try their best
to confine the Nepal's Foreign Policy.
After passing the Bill of New Map
in Nepal, the government was criticized from Indian Bid Media. The Indian Bid
Media started to exclamation and attempting to blame the Nepalese PM KP Oli's negative
relation with the Ambassador Ms. Hou Yanqi of China. One of the TV Channels
made a featured filmy video [Bis Kanya ke Jal me phasa Nepal ka PM KP Oli] because
of which all the Inidan News agencies were banned for more than two months in
Nepal. All these things and thoughts clearly project the picture where Indian
Psychology always intends to dominate and control Nepal's Foreign Policy.
It is very common to think that
the government of Nepal performs and can only stand in the power and signal of
Indian Government. It has become just like taboo in Nepalese politics and
societies. Last time the PM Oli also mentioned such things indirectly. There
was an attempt to fall down the Government by joining some Nepali hands with
Indian Government. It is the shame to all the Nepali people and the sovereign country
like Nepal.
In the present condition, Nepal's
relation with China should be strengthened, the bond in public level should be
cultivated. There are some signs on it also. But it is not sufficient. The
Chinese Government Scholarship to Nepalese Students, researchers and civil
servants should go very high from Chinese side. Nepal Government on the other
hand has to widen open the door for the Chinese Investment in hydropower,
manufacturing, and road and building construction.
Many Nepalese People seem worry
about the cultural differences in between Chinese and Nepalese culture. In this
respect, they rather to be near with Indian. But the time has come to build the
highways and railways from north for the all-round development and prosperity
of Nepal and Nepalese. Those physical connectivity will bring psychological and cultural bond in between Nepalese and Chinese.
We can see the Chinese investment
in many African Countries, Thailand, Malaysia, UAE and Many more. Today Chinese
Economy has a strong impact in the economy of the United States also. Then why should Nepal wait to Welcome the Big Boss of International Market?
Conclusion
Nepal can adopt the policy as per
its actual need and capacity to join the hand with Chinese International
Market. This country can be the trade-transit for South Asia. It is possible
but because of Indian hidden interest as many scholars and political leader
often mentions that it has become the very big deal to Nepal. Lets try to bring it into practical ground.
