Border Issue of Nepal and India

Issue of Limpiyadhura, Lipulekh & Kalapani

Introduction

With the beginning of Covid-19 pandemic, all the nations were busy to prevent and cure the infection made by virus. India was demanding to seize the territory of Nepal. It was one of shameless attempt of India to its best partner in this earth. Nepal is India's best partner in the sense that the contribution of Nepal is directly in the Indian army. One should simply check it from both perspectives. In one hand, the employment of Nepali youths in Indian Army has been providing the opportunity of employment on the other the Nepali Braves, the Gorkhas are fighting for the Indian SOVEREIGNTY. It means both the governments and nations were interdependent to each other before the emergence of Modi's Government in India. Now everybody in Nepal and India easily assumes that there is not cool and good relationship between the nations. The bitterness in relation has been syringed into the bottom of Nepali community. It will obviously have negative impact to both Nepal and India. Thus, can Modi government attempt to be softer in its strategical policy toward Nepal?

Discussion

Why should India cooperate Nepal?
Nepal has been contributing to almost all the areas of Indian Society. If anybody wants to observe the sacrifices made by Nepal, then few of them are sufficient to mention here.
a     More than 40 thousand soldiers are currently working at the boarder of India and Pakistan. Everybody know the seriousness at the border area of India and Pakistan. It is the symbol of unique relation in between Nepal and India. And it is not only the Nepalese responsibility to maintain it but India should initiate the democratic and liberal nature and move ahead.
Majority of Nepali people take the treaty of 1950 [Indo Nepal Treaty 1950]as a curse to Nepal in terms of International Trade as well as liberal and mutual relationship with other countries, it should be revised where both the nations can take benefits.
c  Nepal is landlocked geographically. It is covered by Indian Territory from three directions south, east and west whereas the Tibet of China in the North. In this regard, India should welcome Nepalese relation with China as like with India.
Nepal is silently maintaining the Indian concern whereas India in reality attempting to squeeze the Nepalese Economy in the name of religion, culture and Roti Beti (job & marriage) relation.
If we go to the historical evidences, Nepali youths have been working in Indian Army from the time of British Rule. They are deployed at the Kashmir and other sensitive border territories. They are performing their duties which is also superb from the very beginning!
India really loves to protect its land and territories so does Nepal which is the genuine effort of any independent country in the world. In this regard, if all the documents, records and archetype clearly prove the mentioned areas of Limpiyadhura, Lipulekh and Kalapani belong to Nepal then why India is reluctant to return back it to Nepal? Isn't it the biggest question one should indulge!
The entire tussle in between Nepal and India has been revolving in border issue. Many Nepalese believe border issue is not the only one for the way out. What about all the discrimination, violation of international law, breaches of the treaties?  It is clear enough the government of Nepal, the Nepalese Citizens will not certainly remain silent in the name of Religion, Culture and Roti Beti.
Both India and Nepal really want to utilize their freedom and independently attempt to formulate their foreign policy. Nepal does not have problem in this and always respect the Indian Freedom so why India does have?

Without taking any side one can easily and more confidentially say that the border issue of Nepal with India is equally significant as the border issue of India with Pakistan and China. Then what is the reason behind the drama? Why does not India understand it? Or it pretends knowing as nothing!
Majority of Nepalese believe India has been closing its eyes towards the illegally seized Nepalese territories. How come Indian Government can sit in peace while the government of Nepal is published its new administrative map by including all the territories of Nepal. It’s a game from Indian Side. Isn't it a seeds of war?
Some Indians believe that the mentioned areas of Limpiyadhura, Lipulekh and Kalapani are the part of India because Indian Citizens have been living there from many decades. But it was Nepal's Land in reality.
The issue came on the floor when Indian defense minister Raj Nath Singh viruallly inaugurated a new 80 Kilometer road connecting the China on the way from Nepal. The Nepali government protested against it as it is the attack to sovereignty of Nepal. It is not only from the government side, but all the social activists, film stars, musician and common people raised their voice against the Indian attacked to Nepal.
There is a big irony in the perception of Indian political leaders and the big media houses of India. How come they are attempting to put down the issue by pronouncing the rituals lines as religion, culture and Roti Beti. Isn't it the brutal crime?
Now India has to consider that the most powerful aspect of Indian Army is directly influenced by Nepali youths who are working for Indian Army. If the issue is not solved in time, India will lose more than Nepal.
When we observe all the administrative and political issue it is equally important to have references about the trade between India and Nepal. India has been getting a big amount of money. The published data from the Indian Embassy displays that Nepali total export during the fiscal year 2017-2018 was US$ 0.42 billion which far less than the Indian export US$ 7.39.
In this way Nepal has many disadvantages, it is important to ask one question. What is the perception of Nepali People about India and China currently?
It is said that more than 70% people believed that China is better for Nepal in many respects. They simply highlight the relation with India has brought Nepal into the present condition. It is very harmful for Nepal to have the same type of relation with India for many year. All the political leaders want to review the previous treaty and trade of Nepal and India.
Indian Big Media blamed the shameful illegal relation of Nepali PM with the Ambassador of China. They assumed as there is no scholar in Nepal and Nepali people do not understand the reality. Ultimately the so called relationship of Roti Beti has been going to be terminated.

The conclusion

If India does not return back Nepal's territories then there is no doubt India will have many negative consequences. It is not sufficient to pronounce the mantra of Roti Beti at the very time. The Indian Government will bring the darkness among the South Asian Countries if it does not listen the innocent voice of Nepalese. One of the prominent National Indian News Channel telecasted a short documentary about the comparison of military power of both nations where it was clearly portrayed that Nepal can't fight with India and has to surrender itself. But the irony is Indian government cannot actually fight with all its neighbors. In the SAARC Communities, India has been going to be isolated not because of others but its own guiding principles and working procedures. All these things are pushing it to the corner. Furthermore, the latest update in between India and China is leading to the dangerous scenario. Thus, it is getting late to rethink from Indian Authorities in their foreign policies and its approach to the neighboring countries.
