Formation of Values
Values are those principles and standards which allow us to guide our behavior to fulfill objectives as individual. Whenever the term value is dealt it is primarily and fundamentally associated with the individual beliefs.
Values most of the time are source of satisfaction and fulfillment of human needs. Values more importantly are the part of our identity as individuals and guide our activities and behaviors at home, work or any other areas of our life.
Through values we first identify what is good or bad then guide and regulated our activities for the collective well being.
Connecting the values with organization first requires the features of organization.
It consists of different functions.
It is the composition of individual and group of individuals.
It also consists with achieving target goals.
For the betterment of any organization, all the functions of it should be coordinated since it is designed as an artificial persons that have structure, pattern, shape, mission, vision, goal and objectives.
If somebody asks what are the values in the context of organization, the simplest response might be the way to determine and regulate human resources according to their goals and plan.
Any organization while performing various behavior represents the values in a society.
Values in an organization has two aspects: managerial tool and organization's codes of conduct.
The apparent indication of values means the attitudes and action that favor the culture of the organization or community according to its interests.
Efficiency and effectiveness of any organization are highly influenced from the values of that organization.
But those values should be shared equally and important for all,
They should obviously put into practice at all levels particularly by leaders.
Values should be remembered everyday and every moments.
Last but not least all those values should be directly interlinked with all short, medium and long term goals.
Values should be more effective and creative with regards to the challenges and fulfilling the strategic needs of specific and general context.
They should fulfilled as individuals and appreciates more their won behaviours and furthermore should be the part of that community and needs to feel/realize more identified and committed to the purpose of the organizations.
Values help to perform better by fulfilling the special responsibilities and meet their professional commitments.
Types of Values
Values can be categorized into various types.
But here I am going to list 10 values which can cover almost all the different types of values in terms of different criteria.
a. Personal Values
Personal values are also called the individual values. They are formulated as a blend of family values and the values of a particular culture/ cultural pattern of a society.
b. Family Values
Those moral principles and standards which actually come into practice through the parents to their kids. Parents really want to cultivate and educated those values to educate their children.
c. Organizational Value
Organizational values are the guiding principles of a particular or a particular type of organizations. These values are the blend of fulfilling the needs and aspirations of both employers and employees along with the high level of morality.
d. Social Cultural Values
Social and cultural values are both in the surface and core of every society. Thus, they are also known as prevailing values because everybody accepts and tends to practice in his/her behavior. These values may be same or different to the family values. (Individual Values=Family Values=Social Cultural Values).
e. Moral Values
The essential or highly recommended attitudes and behaviors that a society expects for coexistence, order and general wellbeing etc are the form of moral values.
Formulation of Values
Formulation of values begin from the home where our parents and elder siblings and other relatives transfer the strong form of values.
After home, Schools, Colleges and Universities along with the collective behaviours of teachers, our peers and other administrative staffs are the source of values.
Our seniors, supervisors and mangers also are the most powerful at conveying to us their values.

The role of our friends at schools, colleges and universities are at the position of most powerful at conveying to us their values. Similarly, the offices and working environment of our professional life certainly influences to create the values since that is the working place where you will practice particular working culture. Our society or community surely manipulates in creating and practicing the values through social, cultural, demographic and geographic norms, terms, religion, and customs. In the same line the nation and nationality with no doubts persuades in formulating the values by different rules, regulations, policies and procedures from the government body toward the public.
Why do we need values? What is the role of Value?
Since values are those moral and ethical principles which help to achieve both the goals of organization, it's employees and the society. Through values, a man fulfills his basic needs and impulse (desire). Values are those integrated from of individual activities and social response on it. Values help an individual to live in a social context in relation to various stakeholders of the organization such as the employer, the employees, the customers etc.
The main role of values is to regulate your personal behaviors and activities to the collective wellbeing. In the same line, values supports in promoting professional life from bottom of socio-cultural spectrum.
What is the difference between values and behavior?
Values and behaviors are not same however, they are interrelated. Values are more theoretical in nature whereas behaviors are those actions and reactions which often are generated in a specific context and time. In more general term those guiding principles of our life come under values but how we respond and react in a particular context are the activities or behaviors.
Similarly, values provides the ways and guidelines in formulation of goals and objectives or expectation of the individual and an organization. It might be personal or collective short term or long term. Values reflect our belief, interest and aspiration But behaviors shows the connection and bond of people more psychological and more real in nature. It is also heart to heart connection which can be felt well, realized well etc. More importantly, values are more abstract concept which are fully or partially realized through our behaviors.
Last but not least, values regulate our behaviors for collective benefit in an organization. The common examples of values are individual values, family values, institutional values etc. contrasting the idea, behaviors may maintain or destroy the goodwill, image of a company and individual.
