Teaching as a Wonderful Profession

What is Teaching Profession?

Teaching is gaining knowledge and spreading it. It is two way process. It is universal and omniscient.  Teacher transfers their knowledge, skill, and understanding to students. Thus, the profession teaching is both hard and interesting. One who is hunger of knowledge and skill could be a successful teacher. A reason behind being a successful teacher is labour. Labour comes only through positive attitude of profession. Teaching is wonderful profession where teacher enjoys a lot with children.

Everyday teacher teaches so many students. A good teacher is someone to whom students will remember and cherish for the rest of their lives.  He or she listens their voices, opinion, argument, logic and give suggestion to become a good man. Teaching is somehow giving advice to become morale. Every teacher should have broad and open heart towards their students. Teacher and students relationship should be always fresh and smooth.  For the students and teacher's relationship trustfulness is important part. Strong communication skills are essential for the objective of teaching itself.

Teacher should not only express his or her theoretical knowledge but she should develop in the student love, kind, help, co-operation and respect towards every human beings in the society. If we see through Bible, Jesus a teacher is the greatest teacher in the world. In the case of literary fields Plato, Socrates, Aristotle, all were from teaching background. In accordingly Rousseau, John Dewy, David Hume, John Lock, Maria Montessori all philosophers were from teaching field. In the global platform, almost all the political leaders also came from vary background. In their profession, they practice for long duration and develop educational philosophy.

Teaching as an Improvement

Teaching is a continuous process. In the long journey of teaching, teacher himself or herself improves day after day. One can find so many problems and its solutions. Thus teaching is like medical treatment process. Teaching is a grounding and humbling profession. Modern teachers use new pedagogy whereas traditional teachers like to stay on lecture method. Even though modern educational institution focused child-centered methods i.e. small group discussion, collaboration, brain storming, project work etc.

There are rare professions where we ourselves improve us at first then others. Thus teaching is a wonderful job where the teacher can change the world.

Teaching is an Opportunity

Teaching is an opportunity. Every human being has ever got this great opportunity in their life. But teaching profession gives many chances to be continuously creative. John Dewey one of the world famous philosophers argue that school as miniature of society. To touch with every family with the society, teaching is one of the best platform among so many professions. Each and every family from society come and engage in school thus teaching is an opportunity to serve whole society at once. Being a good teacher is leading the society to the good direction too.

Teaching as Risky Job

Teacher should have all round knowledge. Teacher should have in-depth knowledge of content at first. She should maintain good relationship with both society and students as well other teachers in the school. The state government policy invests huge budget in education sector. It is because the students are the pillar of nation.

In rural area of Nepal, teacher is not limited with four wall of schools but teacher works as doctor, teacher, as social leader, conflict manager, as a lawyer, counselor. The society expects teacher as a model of society. They search everything in the character of teacher.

Teaching is both Art and Science

Effective teaching is dedicated to children with self-confidence of teacher. A good teacher must have in-depth knowledge of her subject matter and expressive way of delivery. The teacher should treat all students with equal love, care, kindness and opportunity.

Thus, teaching is not only delivering subject matter it is more than that. Sometime it is like a theory of science and sometime it is hard to define, it is different what we think. A teacher should know the diversity of children and alert to discover new idea in teaching. Thus it is purely an art and science.

Teaching is well-planned Activity

An effective teacher must be carefully prepared about the objectives, contents, methods, teaching methods, ways of delivery and evaluation system. It is a systematic way of two-way communication. Before starting the class, every teacher should have good idea of what to teach? how to teach? Whom to teach? Where to teach, What is the main objective of this class? After finished the class what would students achieve? All the questions are serious for teacher. Lesson plan is running path to meet the goal. For the goal oriented teaching, lesson plan is an important weapon which supports teaching effectively.

Teaching is Full Brain Activity

Teaching is a kind of powerful job where the teacher should engage physically and psychologically. Either the teacher taught very small kids or grown up students teacher always invest both type of energy by doing gesture, speaking, convincing, performing, giving logic or reasoning etc. A good teacher always performs his activity enthusiastically. A sound mind with in a sound body is the fundamental requirement for teaching profession.

Teachers as Researcher

Teachers are and should be always as researcher. Research is derived from 'Re' and 'Search' where research is often taken as an activity carried out by experts. Dedicated teacher can analyze the individual needs of students and psychology of students. She can categorize the students according to their problems. She can find out the common and specific problem of every student. From the action research, teacher can find out the problem and give the solution too.

Teaching is Satisfaction

Teaching is not like other profitable business where businessman must face with so many obstructers, stress, tension, torture and difficulty rather it is a way of satisfaction. A good teacher always satisfied with the smile of innocence children. A successful teacher always expects behavioral change in students day to day life. Teaching is training for being easy life style, systematic life of students. The work schedule of teacher is very beautiful in the context of Nepal. According to Nepal government, basic school duty hour is 10am to 4 pm. For this duty the salary is 40,000 per month in average where as in Japan average salary of teacher is 411,000.

Teacher can Change the World

The teachers' effectiveness is not measured by the numbers on the teaching evaluations at the end of the term rather the teacher should evaluate through they have helped their students to achieve over the course of a life time. Our surroundings is made by teachers production. A good teacher can change the world. It is a step for mile of journey. 

Thus, teaching is the wonderful job.
