Politics in the Universities of Developing Countries

Strike for the professional achievement at TU

Background

University indicates universe as its name suggests the highest academic institute having wider scope of knowledge, skills and level. As every institute has primary and secondary purposes and strategies so the University also should have. In a very common sense and widely accepted approach of the university is to provide education as of global standard. So the primary purpose of the university is to provide quality education to promote scholars and professionals. University has been playing a different role in developed countries and developing countries with regards to the politics.

Discussion

In the context of developed countries all the direct stakeholders such as professors, students and societies give first priority to education, degrees and so on then only after receiving quality education and having good grades on exam they move ahead for different professions, businesses, social work or politics. The top political leaders and the entire nation also expects the same thing.

Opposite to the developed countries the scenario is completely different in the universities of developing countries, the future of the students after graduation is at the hand of politicians. They have to engage in any one ideological group which works as the sister organization ofits main party. None of the students is remained out from this trap. In this context, the students only pretends as they are studying but in reality they just fulfill the formalities and requirements. More specifically they do everything just for the certification/graduation.

Although, the main reasons for involving as a member of any organization of a political party are very much obvious if you go to the field and spend sometimes with the students, I would like to make a list of five main reasons here.

At the brand new beginning of college life, the student has to be referred by an organization or its leader to get admission to that college or university.

Once you get the entry to that university, you can see favoritism, nepotism and many other hello effects will make you compel to ask the shelter of those organization which mainly works for their political parties.

If your entire teaching learning goes ahead with the blessing of those organizations, then all the project work, internship and thesis obviously are evaluated in a hello effect.

Those students who really want to struggle for the professionalism, quality education are also frustrated and tired observing all those nonsenses.

Last but not least, after the graduation when they attempt to be employed, everywhere those very organizations and their political parties make those constraints from where the talented, professionals cannot go ahead to promote his/her career.

All these things contribute different types of dirty politics which make compel the students to take shelter under the major political parties. You might have one questions over here, What if someone wants to establish his/her own business? You are right but there also in collecting raw materials, human resources, market supply everywhere you will face the big walls created by those parties and organizations. It means you have no way at all. This is more an issue rather than a problem because some people are in for whereas others are in against about the influence of political parties at the university.

Some people even think that what happens if everybody has its organization, Isn't it like as everybody independent? Yes you are right. But you will not have anything like control and policy at your hand. You will just be guided from somebody else. Finally the socio economic and other development of the nation becomes like tortoise race.

Conclusion

There are many problems at the universities out of which unnecessary and overloaded political influence is one which has been playing a pivotal role in the degradation of quality of higher level education. All the stakeholders of the universities should understand the nature and seriousness of this issue then should come for the open discussion. It is required because every citizens of the nation, including the political parties and their sister organizations claim that their main purpose and job is to develop the nation and to promote the lifestyle of the people. It has already become late to come for the discussion and look for the solutions.
