Is Woman Really a Man?

Women's Identity

Gender belongs to the first identity of every person. Biologically human beings are divided into two main categories: Male and Female. In the process of child bearing they are same, the feeling of pain and other experiences of mother and doctor never address whether she is bearing baby boy or girl.

Even though, after bearing baby society paints the color of gender. It is the major issue among all the societies around the world. Thus gender itself is not the problem in fact society reacts on it.  People in the society are the cause of gender discrimination.

(Man Vs Woman)
Gender issues are not only confined in the context of Nepal but also it is the issue of United States, India, Russia, China, Japan, France, South Arica, Germany and other European countries. Everywhere in the world men keep control of taxation, police force, law and making order in the society and nation, new technology, international relations and scientific inventions as well as sports and politics.

These relevant scenarios proves that nowhere in the world women get chance as like as man. Gender politics is about placing women back in the culture of heterosexual feminity. In another idea, it is about holding women responsible for other people's emotional needs. Here, the space of women is like an object. Gender politics is highly associates with personal relationship, social embodiment and habit of everyday conduct. These all creates the women's identity in our family, society and nation.

Cultural Definition of Women

Why women are addressing such simple job and non profitable one? This is the major interesting  issue for both new and old generations women.  In the Nepalese context, women usually hanging to address unpaid domestic and care work. Every kind of unpaid house hold works are embodied with the shoulder of women. Morning to evening serving for family members by cookery, hospitality, caring baby, cleaning home and maintain garden spending almost all time of women.

Altogether, 24 hours women don't have private time to think about own progress and future. However she serves for all  other member of home family never thanks her, it is hard to listen there grateful voice for serving women. Many homes women are beaten by husband and other family member, they abuses and scold her activities and spitting too.

Thus, women in the context of Nepal are backwarded, uneducated, untrained, low self confident. However, all the domestic works are associated with cultural definition of women. Specially in the Nepalese societies women who gives proper time for serving their husband are defines as good wife, a mom who highly care all baby including supporting homework and cutting schools are smart mom and daughter in law who give high respect towards father in law and mother in law are called model daughter in law in the society.

But no one raise the issues of good father's definition in our society. What is the best definition of good father and who is the best example of son in law? I have not ever listened. In such kind of situtedness made her women. Not man.

Psychologist and Physician's Opinion

Some psychologist and physician opens that male enhances bold confidence because their body structures are stronger than female. Female body organs are more softer than male body organs. They further argues that in child growing practice parents made special type of fooding for boys and simple for girls.

In the Nepalese context, around the decade of 1970 there were not any provision of girls' schooling but slowly and gradually the paradigm shift there are sufficient schools for co-education nowadays.

Women are mostly concern in service oriented job like nursing, sewing, receptionist, sells girls, teaching, small enterprises  where they gets very simple wage without any risk. They can easily do these general job serving for their family so they prefer such type of easy job.

On the other hand male reserve their space where there is high risk and high profit with name and fame i.e. sports, boating, big business, multinational companies, film producing, driving, politics, journalist, governing the countries and making law and order in the nation.

Barriers of Women to be a Man

Barriers of women to be a man is related to a question which is raising time and again, why women became inferior, low confidence, confined? Here is the great secret of cultural norms, value and grading system of women in society and family. Which is very traditional and adopting by everybody in every era in the every society in the world.

Not only limited in the house and society women are dominated in movie and cinematography where they seem well-make up, attractive dress up with using high-hill who never handle the job like hero. She does non- risky job. Heroine usually seems uneasy rather hero by her dress up and other maintain items. Hero holds risky job where as heroine does general one. These types of film help generalizing women as weak creature.

In this way, the cinema, Television serials, magazines as well as literature have been supporting common people to generate such kind of thinking pattern towards female. It knowingly and unknowingly give mental environment for man that women never lead the society but man can. For example In Nepal the election 2079 happened where in Humla district only 'Vice' position was given for women not the post of president in village municipality.

Developed and Developing Countries Women

As in other areas and aspects of life, the women in developed and developing countries have been facing and living the life in a different ways and pattern. Connel (2007),  point out that what is the true of politics is also true of business.  She finds 2oo business listen on the Australian Stock exchange, just 5 had a women as Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Thus it portrayed the weak position of women in the developed countries.

So women's position in business is very much inferior than man. In the United States the share of women-owned business representative of all 4.6 in 1972 and it became extremely change in 2019. It became 42 percent of business where women are commending.

According to International Labor Organization (ILO) 30 percent women are involving in business. Even though, women's contributions are growing day by day people are not stopping backbiting for her business.

Women's Honor and Shame

Specially, newly married women are defined by Honor and Shame but rarely does man. Women's work activities become increasingly well-defined after coming-of-age. The special time between puberty and marriage is seen as risky. If the girl is virgin it is honor for her husband and if not it is shame for both family.

If married women could not bear the child for 4 or 3 years it is shame for her and when the baby come in her life it is honor for all family. If she bear only daughter and daughter and daughter it is also defines shame. If a girl became sick and sick time and again it is hard to marriage. So there are so many cultural norms which creates women's honor and shame but never man.

A common reference is here a grown daughter should not be kept with parents house. Delay marriage of daughter is shame for family but it is not define as shame for the case of son. One Metaphor in Nepalese society is famous about the seed and field where seed is defined as male contribution and field for female.

It suggest that it is the quality of the seed which is primary important in determining the nature and identity of offspring.

Social Movement and Women Right

Social movement give suggestion, lesion for conducting another movement. It inspire to launch a kind of movement to bring change existing situation. It gives shape for ahead. Social movement is the reaction of the oppressed people against certain discrimination, injustice so the oppressed group might be fighting against those injustice and otherness in the social movement.

Feminism has the discriminated by male against female. Female reacting the society for getting right. Nepalese constitution declare that every woman shall have equal lineage right without gender based discrimination, every women shall have right to safe motherhood and reproductive health.

No women shall be subjected to physical, mental, sexual or other form of violence or exploitation on grounds of religion, social, cultural tradition, practice or on any other grounds.

Conclusion

The wage of male and female are not for the same task. Women are sexually and economically exploited by patriarchy capatist society. There are so many social and cultural norms and values associated with women which make her world so confined. This antagonist situation should be end and female should given equally value in the society.

All the household work should be done by every member of the home. It should be listed for all duties and responsibilities. Thus the family became modern earning and co-operative family.

Female who stay in the home should be promoted by skill and higher knowledge, doing some economic business that make her more happier.

Women should respect by all the member in home who serves for whole day. She should given some salary however she only engage in household works. If we try to do it practice the position of women and man will be parallel in future. Then we can easily say yes women is man.
