Introduction

Nepal is a beautiful landlocked country. It is beautiful in the sense of geographical attractions i.e. Himalaya, Lakes, Rivers, Jungle, Greenery, animals, birds and all the bio-diversity. It is beautiful in terms of cultural heritage. The governments of Nepal and most of the Nepalese have accepted this country as multicultural, multi-religious, multilingual, a multiple identities. Although there are numerous varieties, the pure identity and integrity of the nation is in both heart and mind of Nepalese People. This is the best and high-level beauty of Nepal. Besides all positive things people don’t have the feeling of honor, respect and peace which should be researched, identified and addressed properly is the main topic of resolution of 2079 BS.

Avoid Corruption

First of all, the political culture and practices in Nepal is not satisfactory for both the common public and even to the leaders of any political party in Nepal. People are going to elect their leaders for the local level government at the end of the first month as in the provision of the current constitution of Nepal. It is really challenging to overcome the corruptions in Nepal. The main reason behind this corruption is functioning as a cancer of all most all the areas of the country. It is problematic in the field of education, health, finance, agriculture, trade and business and the development of infrastructure and regulation of the system.

Reasons of Corruption

Another solid reason behind it, is the root of corruption inside individual. The individual who may be a businessman, government worker, doctor, teacher, farmer whoever he loves to engage in corruption may be voluntarily or forcefully. The mother and wife whose identity is as housewives also in their everyday purchase or responsibilities knowingly or unknowingly doing some sort of corruption. Let me give an example on how people in an individual basis are trapped in corruption.

You work at government office or private office, when you come home in Nepalese context with your salary at the end of the month which sometimes extends up to the first week of the next month. You separately arrange may be 10% or 20% amount of his salary means you deduct from the total amount. It means if your salary is 50,000/- NRs per month then you will either deduct 5,000 or 10,000 from your salary before you spends and saves for the family or gives that to your wife. In the same line, your wife also while spending money for the kitchen and paying the bills and expenses of kids attempts to hide 5% from the total received amount. The very interesting fact here is both of them are happy in cheating the family. Nobody wants to speak about it and none of them love to listen and read such things in their life. What is the secret?

The secret behind the cheating in home and family even though it is not necessary because that’s your property. The reason is, people have accepted corruption in their life without hesitation. Here, one needs to understand clearly that it is not problem on how you spend your money and how you live your life but can anybody say it is ethical behavior, is it our morality, do you want to teach and practice such attempts and activities inside the family among children, are we doing the right thing, are we moral, can we be happy and tell the reality to others etc  are the biggest and serious questions one has to ask himself/herself.

Maintaining Integrity

The second main challenge that we are facing is the problem that should be addressed as the resolution of Nepalese New Year 2079 is lack of dedication in personal and professional life. lacking of dedication in other words lack of integrity on what we say and do is the burning problem of the society. People say one thing but do another. If you listen the speeches of almost all the political leaders what they focus and highlight in their speech is the control of corruption, zero tolerance on corruption and activation of provision of punishment on corruption but in practice the majority of Nepalese people know what is going on Nepal. There are many stories on accepting and telling satire and irony on corruption. I want to mention it here.

In the past, a king wanted to abolish corruption from his country. He went to the jungle and spent days and night in worshipping god. Ultimately, he found the god speaking in front of him, asking the blessing what he wanted. He said he wanted the medicine against corruption. God said okay and gave him a small packet of medicine that could work once a person smells it. The king became very satisfied and happy so he could overcome all the corruption of this country. Once he gave it to his Minister, the Minister sold it in a very expensive and high price. It was supposed to distribute and give people freely. But at the end, there was the historical record that the biggest corruption was on the medicine against corruption. This is a story.

It attempts to say that corruption has entered in our life, family, home and society. It is celebrated everywhere secretly. The interesting fact is everybody rejects and exposes corruption as the evil of our society and nation, but people are engaging in it. This has become the open secret. Now the time has come to address this issue. Accept our own problem and deal the problem in a micro and macro level. We have to start true beginning of addressing this prevalent issue in different level from an individual to family and a society to nation. Fight with ourselves so that we could apply what we say and do. Practice it in the life of morning, day and evening. Apply it while dealing all the family and social issues.

Doing Right Things

The third issue and topic to address is just engage in right work. Right should be ethically right and morally correct even though you have to lose the benefit. Materialistic achievement is short termed and it cannot give you the happiness even though you have lots of money and gadgets.  One has to be aware on what s/he does should be ethically right. It is not a better idea to sell the product i.e. comb and paste to the people who don't have hair and teeth. In our context, there are many problems created by conservative ideas, modern ideas, and political ideas. Majority of youths in present time have been working in Arabian countries where the weather is aversive for Nepalese. This situation is created by the political leaders of Nepal who are always worry about their parties and leaders but not about the youths.

Conclusion

All the Nepalese people while welcoming the New Year 2079 are expecting something different, which could bring some happiness, prosperity and peace in their life. If not it would be a better platform for the coming generation who will certainly praise the work of their parents and grand parents. Lets do it what we can do as an individual and a group. At least all those three things and aspects should be invited in the discussion and practice. The first one is corruption which is in front of us as a barrier of every short of good things. That should be defeated and eliminated if not reduced. The second is the integration which demands what we speak should be performed in our behavior. The third one is the right thing, good thing and ethical behavior in every aspects of our life and society should be applied. If you cannot do it just start and begin to praise and appreciated all those positive aspects which certainly will change our life, society and nation.
